The current referral program is open to anyone. You don’t need to be a borrower with MPOWER Financing to earn referral rewards.

The user who is doing the referring is called the “Referrer.” The individual who receives the referral invitation is called the “Referee,” or “Referred Customer.”

Yes. We can change the program at any time without prior notice. Details of the referral rewards and additional terms will be available in the referral invitation or accompanying promotional materials.

The current referral program ends on December 31, 2021, at 11:59 PM EST. All applications started before this date will be considered eligible for this referral offer.

You will receive your referral reward within 60 days of the Referee’s application completion. For example, if your Referee’s loan application is finished on November 1, 2021, you will receive your reward by December 31, 2021.

The Referee will receive their reward within 60 days of their first disbursement. For example, if your first loan disbursement happens on November 15, 2021, you will receive your reward by January 15, 2021.

No. The referral program applies only to individuals who have not previously registered with us.

No. Unfortunately, you will not earn a reward if your details were not entered during the application process.

You will receive your gift card via your registered email address.

No. However, we ask that you refer responsibly, and not spam your network. Friends don’t spam friends!

We also monitor for any signs of fraud or abuse. Engaging in such behaviors can affect your reward amount.

Depending on our your personal situation and circumstances, you may owe tax on any referral reward you earn. Please consult with your personal tax advisor for more information regarding your potential tax liabilities. If legally required for U.S. tax purposes, we will send you the appropriate tax reporting form for you to use when filing a U.S. tax return.

MPOWER Financing, Public Benefit Corporation (“MPOWER”) of 1101 Connecticut Avenue NW, Suite 900, Washington, District of Columbia 20036, and other affiliates (collectively, “we,” “MPOWER” or “Company”) may, from time to time, offer the opportunity to refer friends, colleagues and family to apply for an MPOWER loan (“MPOWER Referral Program” or “Program”).  Participants in the  MPOWER Referral Program are subject to MPOWER Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, as well as the following additional Terms & Conditions for the Referral Program. MPOWER reserves the right to amend the terms of the Referral Program, Terms of Service, and/or Privacy Policy at any time without prior notice. By participating in the Referral Program or any promotions similar to the Referral Program, the participant acknowledges that he/she has read and agrees to be bound by the Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and these Terms & Conditions for the Program.

Active MPOWER clients, applicants, and general users can use the form on this page to share the MPOWER referral program with their friends, family members or colleagues. This form sends an email invitation to participate in the referral program.

Users who refer are called “Referrers.” Individuals who receive a referral invitation are called “Referred Customers.” An “eligible” Referrer and “Referee” who is fully compliant with these Terms and Conditions may receive “Reward(s)” for every “Qualified Referral.”

To be “eligible,” a Referrer must:

• be at least 18 years old
• not be an employee of MPOWER or any of its or their subsidiaries, third-party servicers, or agents, affiliates or promotional agencies, including immediate family and household members.

Referrers may only refer to living individuals who meet the requirements of these Terms and Conditions. Referrers cannot refer themselves. For example, a Referrer may not create multiple or fake accounts with MPOWER or participate in the Program using multiple or fake email addresses or identities.

Referrers shall not solicit applications for MPOWER’s student loan product. Referrers shall not compensate, or accept any compensation from, Referred Customers in connection with such referrals. Referrers shall limit their activities to informing Referred Customers about MPOWER’s student loan product so that they may independently decide whether or not to apply for such product. Referrers shall not collect information from Referred Customers for the sole purpose of completing a loan application form or assist any referee with filling out an MPOWER student loan application.

A Qualified Referral means:

• The Referred Customer has provided the Referrer’s details during the application process. If, for any reason (for e.g., they forgot) a Referred Customer does not include Referrer’s details, the Referrer will not receive a Referral Reward.
• The Referred Customer has not previously applied for an MPOWER student loan (regardless of email address or alias).

Rewards can only be awarded for Qualified Referrals.

Referrer and Referred Customers that have signed up using valid information might receive a reward, which might or might not be cash or credit. Details of the referral rewards and additional terms will be shown in the referral invitation or accompanying promotional materials. Reward fulfillment details will be shown in the referral email invitation as well. All Referral Rewards are selected and awarded by MPOWER in its sole and absolute discretion. MPOWER reserves the right to change or substitute rewards at any time without prior notice. Any national, federal, state and local taxes and duties are the sole responsibility of the Referrer and Referee respectively.

Rewards are subject to verification. MPOWER may delay a Reward for the purposes of investigation. They may also refuse to verify and process any transaction MPOWER deems, in its sole discretion, to be fraudulent, suspicious, in violation of these Terms and Conditions, or believes will impose potential liability on MPOWER, its subsidiaries, affiliates or any of their respective officers, directors, employees, representatives, and agents.

All of MPOWER’s decisions are final and binding, including decisions as to whether a Qualified Referral or Reward is verified.

MPOWER Loans are available to undergraduate and graduate, domestic and international students enrolled at eligible universities. We require our borrowers be at least 18 years old or age of majority, and within two years of graduation. For more detailed information on loan eligibility, please see our FAQ page.

Referral messages should be sent only through the Referral Program as described in these Terms & Conditions. Please send your referrals only to eligible friends, and refrain from mass emailing colleagues and former classmates. Use only truthful, non-misleading statements that accurately reflect MPOWER’s Program Loans and the Referral Program when sending a referral message. Friends don’t spam friends!

You must comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines, including any applicable  “SPAM” laws. Any email you send must be created and distributed personally by you; bulk email distribution and the use of automated devices or third party services is prohibited. By participating in the Referral Program, you agree not to solicit loan applications for the sole purpose of accumulating referral bonus payments and will restrict your activities to informing personal contacts you believe would benefit from MPOWER’s loan products. Any distribution of a Referral Program link that could constitute unsolicited commercial email or “spam” under any applicable law or regulation, or that otherwise violates the Terms & Conditions of the Referral Program imposed by MPOWER, or is otherwise inappropriate as determined by MPOWER in its sole discretion, is expressly prohibited and will be grounds for immediate and permanent exclusion from the Referral Program.

MPOWER reserves the right to cancel or amend the Referral Program, including these Terms & Conditions in its sole discretion, at any time, without prior notice. MPOWER reserves the right to disqualify you from the Referral Program if any you violate any of the Referral Program’s Terms and Conditions or otherwise abuse this Program, as determined by MPOWER in its sole and absolute discretion.
